SoFar · last updated 30 September 2026
SoFar collects nothing. No account, no analytics, no advertising identifier, no crash reporting. The only network traffic goes to Apple: the App Store for purchases and, if you subscribe to SoFar+ and keep sync on, your own iCloud.
The events you create, their dates, colours, goals and reminders are stored in a file on your iPhone, shared only with the SoFar widgets on that same iPhone. Deleting the app deletes them from that iPhone. Your date of birth, if you enter it in the Life tab, never leaves the iPhone, even with sync on.
With SoFar+, your events are copied to Apple's iCloud key-value storage, in your own iCloud account, so they appear on your other iPhones. We have no access to it: it goes from your device to Apple and back to your devices. You can turn sync off in Settings; iCloud settings on your iPhone control it too.
When you choose to import, SoFar asks for access and reads birthdays from Contacts or upcoming events from Calendar on your iPhone. Only the ones you tick become SoFar events. Nothing is written back, nothing is sent anywhere, and nothing is read outside an import.
Reminders are scheduled locally by iOS, on your device. No notification server is involved. You choose them event by event, and the permission is only asked when you turn one on.
When you share a grid as an image, the image is rendered on your device and handed to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes next is your choice; SoFar never sees it.
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We receive no payment details, no name and no email address. The app asks Apple whether SoFar+ is active and gets back yes or no.
The app sends no personal data to us and does not target children. There is nothing to collect at any age.
If this ever changes, this page changes first and the app's App Store privacy labels change with it. A version that collected data would say so here before it shipped.
